Solano RCD now offers a program to develop or improve ponds on farm lands and rural residential properties to support Sacramento Perch.  Participating landowners will receive a visit from a UC Davis scientist to determine if their property is suitable to support a Sacramento Perch Pond.  If the property is appropriate, the District will either modify the existing pond, or construct a new pond, and stock the pond with Sacramento Perch.  The purpose of the program is to increase stocks of Sacramento Perch, a declining fish species, for eventual release into the Delta system.  Through this same program landowners are also eligible for funds to improve riparian habitat and vegetate ditches on their property, two other practices designed to improve conditions for Sacramento Perch.  Please contact our Restoration Project Manager, Katherine Holmes, for more information at (707) 678-1655 x 118.
